This model provides an enterprise-architecture view of how AI Governance functions as the unifying control mechanism that ensures responsible, secure, and compliant use of Artificial Intelligence capabilities across the organization. It illustrates the relationship between:
• AI Governance Principles (the normative guidance),
• AI Governance Capability (the organizational function applying the principles), and
• AI Service Providers such as AWS AI Services and OpenAI Services (the platforms and technologies governed).
The purpose of the model is to show how governance principles influence technology adoption, operational behavior, and risk-mitigation strategies within enterprise AI implementations.
2. Purpose of the AI Governance Capability
The central element, AI – Governance, represents the enterprise capability responsible for:
• Establishing policies, standards, and guardrails for AI usage.
• Ensuring responsible, transparent, and ethical AI development and consumption.
• Applying governance principles consistently across all AI platforms (internal and external).
• Managing AI-related risks including security, privacy, model bias, and operational reliability.
• Overseeing compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
